Third place

Everyone thought Jamie would never finish the the turkey run..... But look who came in 3rd.

Happy Holidays from Hiemers

Just a shout out to everyone to have a Merry Christmas. The family battled through the weather to Colorado, even the "rat", Toby (Straka's dog) . We have spent most of our time talking, playing cards, scrabble, connect four, tic tac toe and adventuring outside for some snowball fights. Toby and the dog next door seem to argue a lot, and as you can see in the above picture Heidi and Carol, our neighbor, have not ventured out into the sn0w to stop them. Stacie & Lori's brother in-law, Ken will be coming over with the kids (Mike & Kerry) to have dinner and spend Christmas Eve with us. Sam and Whitley are excited to see them and open up presents after dinner.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.

P.S. The Christmas Picture Score is Jamie 4 ---- Thad 0

Sparkling Ice instead of Snow

Instead of snow we had ice. We lost power three times but each time it came back in an hour. We were lucky as there are people still with out power. We hope everyone has safe travels this weekend and able to enjoy Christmas to its fullest.. Merry Christmas from Dave and I.

Covered in Colorado

Ok, which one of you was the wise guy who was dreaming of a "White Christmas"? We definitely have it out here in Erie. We officially got 26" of snow, but the drifts tell a bigger story! Jamie is on top of it though and plans to have the way clear for the Hiemer's arrival on Friday. Merry Christmas Everyone!

Jamie Made it!!!

Yes! Jamie can run two miles. It was tough but he finished. Dad ran right along with him to help him spiritually and physically. Yes! Heidi made it too, but she ran a little farther. No one brought home a big prize. But the beer was waiting at the Hiemer's house. QUESS WHO CAME TO DINNER?? Thanksgiving was great! Mom made a great meal. Nice pictures Thad! Rebecca don't let your dad kid you about your cooking. You are a great cook! Love, Heidi P.S. No lottery winners yet!

Nice Job Thad!!!!!

Nice job brother, but now I am one up on you. This is going to get complicated for Heidi when she wins the lottery. Just wanted to write a little note before the trip home. Lori and I are heading back to Kearney tonight for thanksgiving. Somehow Dad and Heidi talked me into running two miles in a turkey run that happens annually in Kearney, so lets hope I live to write another blog. The good news is that Lori is now a Husker fan. It has taken almost four years of Hiemer style therapy... but mission accomplished. We will be heading to the game on Friday.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone

P.S. The bolwers are coming back to Nebraska..... Stay tuned to find out their new address

Birthdays in November

Besides celebrating Thanksgiving this month, C.J. celebrates his birthday on the 25th and Karen has her turn for celebrating on the 30th. To both a Happy Birthday and many more to come. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone. I really like this holiday and have great memories of my dad enjoying it, too. He usually had suggestions for the meal. He loved to have a duck roasting in the oven with the turkey. He loved to snack on nuts but he always bought them in the shell so he could have the pleasure of shelling them. Mother's Thanksgiving meal was the best and I hope we all have great memories of past Thanksgivings. It is my favorite holiday, I do believe.

What is a Blog

I believe we have a new blog sit called "what is a blog"... I thought it was the title to my blog message. If you are lost at this point feel my pain.... this is the second time I have written this message. The first one is in cyber space...... but enough about my inability to work a website and lets get to the point.
What did I win?
Why is everyone calling out Thad?
Does Heidi have a gambling problem?

Last but not least where are the bowlers?

Trip to USC game

Dave and I were lucky enough to be able to go the USC/Nebraska game in Los Angeles. We had a great time as we were on a tour with the Las Vegas for Nebraska group. We met a lot of great people all with ties to Nebraska. We went with our good friends, Bernie and Liz Lambe, who live in Las Vegas. The picture is of the four of us...

Mother's 92nd Birthday

We celebrate on the 27th at the Rest Home. Mother was awake and ready for a party when we arrived. She still loves her sweets so we served cake and ice cream. We had lots of residents, visitors, and staff enjoying the treats. Only picture taken was one of four generations. Mother, Marian, Heidi, and Whitley. I will try to post it.

Well, a new era has begun. The Smith Family has a blog. I hope this is a spot that the family can keep updated on everyone's activities. Hopefully we can share joys, concerns, school activities, sports scores, and pictures. I 'm learning as I go so bear with me on this adventure. As I understand it we all can create a "post". I need to get those instructions down and pass them along.
